The City of Fairfield has created and launched this Buy In Fairfield program to educate residents and businesses about the benefits making purchases in town brings to our local economy and community.
The City of Fairfield has committed to do the same. To kick off the campaign, Fairfield's City Manager, Sean Quinn, is encouraging Fairfield City departments to do their own shopping locally. City staff will seek bids from Fairfield businesses when making their purchases. In fact, the City is offering a 1% vendor preference to Fairfield businesses on bids over $25,000.
The more you do to promote the message of buying locally in your own business, organization, or neighborhood, the more people this campaign will reach and the more influence it will have on spending choices and the future of our economy.

Below are some ways local businesses can help strengthen Fairfield’s local economy and help achieve the mission of Buy In Fairfield campaign.
- Even if your business does not generate sales tax, you can help by shopping at Fairfield businesses that do. Buy your office supplies, catering services, office furniture and printing services locally.
- Link to this web site and to partner businesses' web sites.
- Let your customers know you’re a part of the BuyInFairfield.com program by incorporating the Shopping Bee logo into your print and online advertising and displaying the Shopping Bee decal in your place of business.
- Talk to Your Customers. Educate them about the importance of supporting local businesses and how you have supported the community.
- Communicate the "Buy Local" message by communicating with local media, mentioning the program in your customer or association newsletters, putting information up on your web sites and and linking to this site. Encourage the community and non-profit groups in which you are involved to participate in this Buy In Fairfield campaign, too.
- Educate Your Employees. Talk with your employees about the Buy In Fairfield campaign so they can answer customers' questions and communicate the message.
- Patronize your fellow Fairfield businesses for goods and services. Start by examining your list of vendors and look for opportunities to shift your purchasing to Fairfield suppliers.
- Recruit other local business to participate, use the logo in advertising, place the decal in their storefronts and patronize their fellow Fairfield businesses.
- Give Local. If you don't already do so, consider sponsoring and donating to local charities and non-profits, in addition to national and international non-profits you might already support. By donating locally, you and your community will receive many of the same economic and social benefits as when you buy local goods and services.
When you go shopping or to take the family out to dinner, remember to support our Fairfield businesses, which in turn support our local community.
